About the author of the NutriSearch Comparative Guide to Nutritional Supplements™

In his book the “Comparative Guide to Nutritional Supplements”, MacWilliam suggested what one should look for in a good supplement. He scored over 1500 top brands of nutritional supplements in North America and Canada according to 18 critical Health Support Criteria. To avoid potential bias, MacWilliam used the recommendation of 12 published experts to determine a benchmark he calls the “Blended Standard”, and compared all supplements to this standard.
[MacWilliam, an ex-Canadian Member of Parliament, was on the panel of consultants put together by the Canadian Ministry of Health when it was drawing up the law governing nutritional supplements in Canada.]
The 18 Criteria are:
1) Completeness 2) Potency 3) Mineral Forms 4) Bioactivity of Vitamin E 5) Gamma Tocopherol 6) Antioxidant Support 7) Bone Health 8) Heart Health 9) Liver Health 10) Metabolic Health 11) Ocular Health 12) Methylation Support 13) Lipotropic Factors 14) Inflammation Control 15) Glycation Control 16) Bioflavonoid Profile 17) Phenolic Compounds Profile 18) Potential Toxicities.
